The Ladies Study Group (LSG), Nagpur Chapter, began its year with an afternoon of powerful stories, fearless leadership, and meaningful conversation, as it hosted Dr. Kiran Bedi at Hotel Centre Point, Nagpur on Thursday.
A pioneer in public service, Dr. Bedi’s journey spans milestones that have shaped both national and global leadership narratives, from becoming India’s first woman IPS officer to serving as a United Nations Civilian Police Advisor and later as Lieutenant Governor. A recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award at a very young age, her life reflects a legacy of courage and integrity in action.
In a deeply engaging conversation, she reflected on stepping into uncharted territory: “My greatest advantage was that there were no precedents. I wasn’t even aware there were no women IPS officers.” Her words set the tone for a session that went beyond achievements—into mindset, discipline, and conviction.
Sharing insights from her transformative tenure at Tihar Jail, she spoke about leading with both empathy and strength. “I entered Tihar jail for the first time in my civilian clothes and began with a prayer—there was an instant connect,” she shared, highlighting how human connection became the starting point for systemic reform. She coupled compassion with firmness, backed by discipline, physical rigor and unwavering intent.
One of her bold reforms—banning smoking in Tihar Jail in the early 1990s—stood as a testament to her ability to translate conviction into lasting institutional change, influencing Indian prison practices across India even today. Known widely as “Crane Bedi”, she earned the name for her uncompromising enforcement of law—symbolising fairness, accountability, and equality before the system.
Beyond her official roles, Dr. Bedi continues to inspire as a mentor and nation-builder through the Navjyoti India Foundation and India Vision Foundation, driving impactful work in education, reform, and community development.
The session was led by LSG Nagpur President Sakshi Bhandari, along with Vice President Neeta Gupta and committee members Reshmi Verma, Shruti Sharma, Pooja Doshi, Monica Bhagwagar, Niharika Vali and Shradha Singhania.

The Ladies Study Group (LSG), the women’s wing of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, marked a significant milestone with the launch of its Nagpur Chapter at Radisson Blu, Nagpur. The event brought together an accomplished gathering of women leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, and members of the business community for an afternoon of meaningful dialogue, insight and networking.
The highlight of the occasion was the presence of Chief Guest Smt. Amruta Fadnavis ji, who formally inaugurated the Nagpur Chapter. In an engaging fireside chat, she shared thoughtful perspectives on confidence, individuality, and the evolving role of women in shaping families, businesses, and society. Her address resonated deeply with the audience, setting the tone for an empowering and forward-looking platform.

The discussion explored themes of financial independence, entrepreneurship, leadership, and self-worth, while also underlining the importance of strong support systems and communities in enabling women to thrive.
The event was led by Mrs. Preeti Goenka, Chairperson of the LSG Governing Body, with the strong support of members of the LSG National Council from Kolkata, including Bhawna Agarwal, Mukul Agarwal, and Madhulika Kanoria.
Esteemed members of the LSG Governing Body present on the occasion included Mrs. Rashmi Sharma, Mrs. Madhu Neotia, Mrs. Anuradha Kanoria, and Mrs. Priti Kapoor, whose presence further strengthened the significance of the launch.
The program commenced with a welcome address, followed by the official unveiling of the LSG Nagpur Chapter. On this occasion, Sakshi Bhandari was formally badged as the President of the Nagpur Chapter, with Neeta Gupta as Vice President. The founding committee was also introduced, comprising, Shradha Singhania, Monika Bhagwagar, Pooja Doshi, Niharika Vali, Reshmi Varma and Shruti Sharma.
In their address, the leadership emphasised the importance of creating spaces where women can come together to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and build meaningful connections that support both personal and professional growth.
The Ladies Study Group has been envisioned as a platform that brings together women from diverse professional and entrepreneurial backgrounds to engage in intellectual discussions, share perspectives, and foster leadership. With the launch of the Nagpur Chapter, LSG aims to establish a vibrant forum in the city that will host knowledge sessions, interactions with thought leaders, and conversations around social, economic, and leadership issues relevant to women today.
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by hi-tea and informal networking, allowing participants to continue conversations and build lasting connections.
The launch of the Nagpur Chapter marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the city—one that brings together women who are committed to learning, leading, and growing together.

A vibrant road show on 7th November, 2025 brought together a group of dynamic women from diverse ages and walks of life.
The National Council introduced LSG through an engaging audio-visual presentation, followed by the felicitation of the first Chapter President, Sakshi Bhandari.
What followed was an enthusiastic exchange — with numerous questions from the curious and excited attendees. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive; the women of Nagpur were deeply impressed, eager to associate with LSG, and are now looking forward to the official launch.
Overall, a superb and heartening experience! We look forward to launching the chapter in February 2026.
